Youth Services Basics Course (5 hrs) - This course is designed as an introduction to library services for public library staff working with youth. Whether you are already working in a library or just starting out in a new youth services position, this content will help you consider why library services focusing specifically on youth are important, how to collect appropriate materials, the types of services and programs you can provide to your patrons, and the importance of outreach services.
Technology, Literacy, and Young Children - This website provides information about the how to develop the skills necessary for children to master the fundamental actions that are critical to media literacy for children ages 0-5. A full report media literacy in early childhood is also available for download and is intended to provide a consensus view of media literacy in an early childhood framework.
Storytime 101 (5 hrs) - This course covers basic skills, like preparing for storytime, reading books out loud, using props and music, and engaging adults and children. Each section has an interactive module filled with useful information, examples, and videos. There are also links to documents and online resources that will support your storytime practice.
Supercharged Storytimes for All - A self-paced course that covers foundational early literacy concepts and alignment with other library training that educates parents and caregivers about their role in supporting early literacy.
